At the most recent American Political Science Association conference in Philadelphia I had the immense pleasure of having dim sum with a famous writer from one of the very top Liberal magazines in America, who I have tremendous respect for. Less than 60 seconds into our soup dumplings he leaned in and asked my boss, “Say, do you know a single intelligent and educated human being whose voting for Donald Trump?”
And because I am a goddamn moron with absolutely no sense of self-preservation, I raised my hand and prepared my defense of my decision.
To take Leftist Standpoint Theory seriously, let me just own up to this decision as being the result of my being a Man in a Boys Vs. Girls election cycle.
The female-based arguments for voting for Kamala Harris and Against Donald Trump
One - He’s Crazy.
This one is pretty straight forward, and I’ll happily concede it - he’s a crazy person. He shoots from the hip without any kind of forethought, he’s not a planner, and he is easily seduced by flattery. He was doing great right after the debate and then he just casually Truthed “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” for no discernible reason whatsoever, as though he was suffering from some kind of celebrity Tourette’s Syndrome.
Two - His SCOTUS Justices got Roe v. Wade overturned.
Were I young lady, I too would be concerned about the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Now, Trump has declared empathically time and again that he isn’t interested in Project 2025 and he considers his work on abortion done having returned the issue to the states (something RBG agreed on, btw), but having destroyed the most sacred of feminist icons, I don’t fault women for not wanting to see whether or not he feels like keeping those promises. Here’s the most recent data on this from Gallup.
Also, on the subject of abortion, it’s worth noting that the majority of the pro-life movement are women and that the actual goal the Originalists / Conservatives is to overturn Connecticut v. Griswold, and Roe v. Wade is just a step towards that larger goal. Griswold is where we get a right to privacy in the 14th Amendment, except the problem is that there isn’t a right to privacy there and we probably need to have a Constitutional Amendment to address privacy, especially in the age of the internet, social media, and AI.
Three - First BIPOC woman President.
Kamala Harris would be the first woman and second BIPOC President, and as BIPOC women are the backbone of the Democratic Party and the party is hyper focused on equity and representation, I can sympathize with the desire to vote for someone who “looks like them.”
Four - He’s a sexist / misogynist.
He said that if you’re rich and famous, women will let you “grab them by the pussy.” He got held liable for defamatory statements towards E. Jean Carol, who accused him of rape, even though she has said a lot of really weird things about rape and sex over the years herself.
So, given the fact that is an impulsive, sexist insane person who once almost got us nuked by North Korea before becoming the first president to step into their country and wound up being pals with Kim Jong Un and being put on a stamp, I actually do agree with Standpoint Theory here that women have a strong incentive to not vote for him.
The male-based argument against voting for Kamala Harris and for Donald Trump
So, with all of that being acknowledged, here is why I am voting for Trump.
One - I don’t accept Critical Theory arguments that I should hate myself for my skin color or my sex, and it’s ridiculous that anyone else does.
White Dudes for Harris put out their first advertisement on X and it literally begins with “Hey, White dudes, so I think we’re all pretty sick of hearing about how much we suck. Every time you go online it’s the same story - we’re the problem.” I’m sorry, but fuck that noise. I’ve previously written about Critical Theory here, here, here, here, and here (If I focus too much on this please keep in mind that I have a PhD in Political Theory).
I’m sorry, but given Critical Gender Theory and Queer Theory’s hatred of cishetero men, and Critical Race Theory’s hatred of Whites and White-Adjacents like Jews, Hindus, Nigerians, Asians, or anyone else who scores highly on standardized tests, that doesn’t make me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. And I’m not alone in not wanting anything to do with this racism and sexism.
In September and October 2024 the Kamala campaign realized it had a problem with male voters like me. Sam Harris released an advertisement where he said, “It’s time to be a man and vote for a woman.” Obama came out and blasted Black males for their sexism. This very real advertisement came out where Democrats badly guessed at what men in real life are actually like…
Which in turn provoked this wonderful satire promising whimsical gay adventures for White Dudes for Kamala:
Finally, and most recently, Trump made the following crack at the 79th Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner in New York City, illustrating the Manosphere’s infiltration of popular rightwing psychology (meme below) -
“There’s a group called ‘White Dudes For Harris,’” Trump said. “I’m not worried about them at all, because their wives and their wives’ lovers are all voting for me, every one of those people are voting for me.”
Two - My top political concerns are generally male-coded.
My most recent series of Substacks focused on the potential building forces of World War 3 in my Heavy Metal Guide to the Apocalypse. I’m also worried about inflation, record illegal immigration and fentanyl, and leftwing support across multiple Western nations for censorship in academia and on the internet. I believe that RFKJr. can reign in the food and pharmaceutical industries that poison us and make us sick.
One thing that makes my inner boy become hopeful for the future is robots and going to Mars, and Elon Musk is giving us the first vision of a future of hope and progress in the future since maybe the 80s.
If one side is saying that my essential nature is toxic and evil, and the other side is capturing 19 story tall, 250 ton rockets out of the air and making scifi robots come to life,
Three - I’m still a little less than entirely thrilled about the Democrats threatening me with interning me in a camp, or locking me in my home, or making it illegal for me to have a job or go grocery shopping because I was leery of brand new mRNA altering technology.
"You have the option to not get vaccinated if you want," said the doctor. "But then you can't go out in public."
For a long time academics thought that authoritarianism is a Rightwing phenomenon, but it turns out that was wrong. There’s now a growing body of research on Leftwing Authoritarianism (LWA).
From Conway et al.’s article ‘The Curious Case of Left-Wing Authoritarianism: When Authoritarian Persons Meet Anti-Authoritarian Norms’:
As evidenced by the well-attended symposium on LWA at the most recent Society for Personality and Social Psychology Conference (Conway, 2020) and by an increase in recent publications and citations on the topic (e.g., Conway et al., 2018; Conway & McFarland, 2019; Conway et al., 2020a; Conway et al., in press; Costello et al., 2020; Fasce & Avendaño, 2020; Federico et al., 2017; Frimer et al., 2014; Proch et al., 2018; Vasilopoulos, Marcus, & Foucault, 2018; Wronski et al., 2018), interest in the LWA construct is on the rise.
Whatever it is that has possessed the Left in recent years to seek out a Big Mother, feminine form of totalitarianism, I’m not supporting it.
"The US was built on racial patriarchy. If you want to describe what the First Amendment is, it’s not about consistent or noble principles, it’s about power. it’s about converging with that idea of racial patriarchy and if you are disturbing it."
Not exactly a future I want to live in.
So, boys and girls, that is my appraisal of the 2024 election. It makes sense that the ladies are going for Kamala and that the boys are backing Trump and his crew of Vance, Tulsi, RFKJr., Vivek, Musk, and Shanahan. As I’m on the Y-chromosome team, I have now voted for the Outlaw and the Hillbilly. Yee-haw, y’all!!
